Three Things That Are Different About Siding in North Vancouver
North Vancouver isn't one climate. A building on the Lonsdale waterfront and a house under the trees in Lynn Valley can need very different work.

New Build or Re-Clad: What Changes
On new construction the rain screen goes in with the wall from day one, and the work follows the drawings and the builder's schedule. On a re-clad the old siding comes off first, so the condition of the sheathing behind it decides what else the job needs — which is why a re-clad estimate is firmer once we've seen the wall.

Higher Up the Slope Means Wetter Walls
Rainfall climbs with elevation toward Grouse and Mount Seymour, and tall conifers keep many walls in shade for most of the year. North-facing walls, the lowest courses and the area behind downspouts are where siding stays wet longest — and where we look first.

Do you repair cedar siding in North Vancouver, or only replace it?
We repair it. If the damage is limited to some boards and the sheathing behind them is sound, we replace the damaged boards and match them to the rest of the wall. If rot has spread into the wall, or the house has no rain screen and the same walls keep getting wet, re-siding usually costs less over time than repeated repairs — we'll show you what we find and explain both options.
Do you take commercial and multi-unit siding projects in North Vancouver?
Yes. Along with detached homes, we install siding and cladding on multi-unit residential and commercial buildings — including the brick and stone cladding at 342 Mountain Highway. Send us the drawings or a few photos and we'll arrange a site visit.
Do I need a permit to replace siding in North Vancouver?
Both of North Vancouver's building departments — the City's, around Lonsdale, and the District's, which covers the rest — require a building permit to alter an existing house. Whether your siding job needs one depends on the scope, such as changes to framing or windows. We check with the right office for your address before work starts. Why does siding seem to fail faster in Lynn Valley and Seymour?
More rain and less sun. Those neighbourhoods sit higher on the slopes, where rainfall is heavier, and many lots are shaded by tall trees, so walls stay damp for longer between storms. Older siding fastened directly to the sheathing has no way to dry from behind, which is why rot often starts there first.
Can you add stone veneer to an existing house in Lynn Valley?
Yes. Stone veneer is often added to lower walls, entries or chimneys on existing homes. On wet, shaded lots the details that matter are drainage behind the stone and keeping it clear of soil and splash-back, and we plan the install around both.
Can you fix storm damage and work with my insurance company?
Yes. We repair siding damaged by wind and falling branches and can work with your insurer on the claim. Repairs are booked based on crew availability — send photos by WhatsApp and we'll tell you how soon we can get there.
